Ken Hodgson 95th Birthday Celebration
We were honoured to have been included among the guests at a birthday celebration for Ken Hodgson, my uncle in Schomberg, Ontario on November 25, 2017.
Chatting with Ken it became apparent that we were outdone by a 95 year old in the memory department. Ken recalled several stories about our immediate family that we had forgotten. It was a humbling occasion to cherish.
The get together was organized and hosted by his four daughters, Judy, Jane, Cathy and Lori. Their spouses, children, as well as many close friends and neighbours of all ages attended. The hostesses ensured that guests were introduced and names exchanged since many of us had not seen each other for many years. Among the quests were Janice Auld, my sister and daughter to Bill Hodgson, Ken's brother; Lorena and Lois, daughters of Ken's Aunt Donalda; Ann the daughter and Jack, the son of Ken's sister, Helen. From the maternal side of the family came Doug and Archie Chamberlain. A distant relative but good friend and fellow Lion, Murray Sheardown was also in attendance.
There were of course many other friends and family that we are unable to mention. It was two hours of surprises, emotional warmth and repect for an amazing and well loved man.
It was a memorable occasion for all.
Thanks to niece Beth MacLellan for these words.
Cathy Gasparini (Hodgson) added in a reply email, "You also met Betty (Aunt Helen's other daughter) and her husband Amos. As well, Christine Chamberlain was there and this is Dads 1st cousin and her father was Christopher Chamberlain (Granny's brother)."
